Hobbies

May 10, 2008

There are various hobbies that keep people occupied. Some are free, while others cost considerably more to pursue, with some people taking it to the extreme. It is in fact that the pursuit of academia was once reserved for the wealthy with too much time on their hands.

For the past decade my hobby has been spending as much time on the computer being creative. Here I call software a creative industry, and I don't see why it shouldn't be considered so. First with application development, and moving into web application development. Best of all for a teenager, these pursuits didn't cost me any money, as I didn't have any.

Previously my hobby was building with Lego, Lego trains, and Lego Technic. However now that I work, I have a bit of money to pursue mechanical, and mechatronic hobbies again. Something that led me to major in Mechatronic Engineering at university. But the problem again is that applying my training to create a small robot as a hobby would be quite costly (at least the way I want to do it).

And again I elect for the cheap hobby, web development, and ZinZam continues to be worked on. My big overspecified/feature bloated blog :P

Maybe one day I'll bite the bullet and create a small robot. And when I do, I challenge you to create a better one than me.
